Cummins Engines: The Largest Voluntary Recall of Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks
From HK Truck Center: While the Hino and the Fuso brands do not run on Cummins engines, we do want to make our fleet customers aware of this important announcement. If your fleet has an International, Peterbilt, Kenworth, or Freightliner, you may be affected by this announcement.
On Tuesday, the EPA announced that Cummins Inc is recalling approximately 500,000 medium and heavy-duty trucks in the United States to correct a faulty emissions control system. Medium and Heavy Duty trucks with a Cummins Engine in the model years of 2010 – 2015 are affected. The recall of these vehicles has made this the largest ever voluntary recall of trucks due to emission problems. The recall will begin in two phases; the first with heavy trucks in August and the second with medium-duty trucks in March of 2019. This comes in the midst of a previous recall from Cummins that is already underway and affected 232,000 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks.
